Djimiyapin Gumana

With Yinimala he is the son of deceased Dhalwaŋu leader Dhakawal. Following his brother Dhakawal’s death Gawirrin Gumana AO took responsibility for his two gathu (sons but in English way fraternal nephews). Gawirrin passed on artistic disciplines as well as the ceremonial knowledge of their own Dhalwaŋu clan that they were entitled to. From late 2004 Djimiyapin started to make himself known to the Art Centre and from the beginning his work has been powerful and attractive if rare.
