Lena Dawson
Maruku ArtsLena Dawson was born in Wingellina and is a Ngaanyatjarra woman residing in Warakurna community in Western Australia with her husband Ernest Bennett.
An exceptional bowl carver, Lena has developed the traditional shape to a slightly more abstract form that gives it a very contemporary design.
Having learned her skills from her senior family members, in the time honoured tradition, Lena carves alongside her niece and fellow accomplished artist, Cynthia Burke. She is also a painter with Warakurna Artists and fibre artist with Tjanpi Desert Weavers.
