Rhoda Carroll

Walkatjara Art

Rhoda Carroll moved from Areyonga to Mutitjulu when she was a little girl with her kami (grandma) and her mother’s youngest sister; here she lives with her mother’s side of the family and raises her own young family of three children.

Rhoda learnt to paint from her grandmother Kunmanara Brumby, an important and respected woman in the Mutitjulu community. Her grandmother was a key figure in getting Rhoda involved in the arts centre and developing her style as an artist. Pepai Carroll, her father’s big brother, is also an artist and arts worker at Ernabella Arts Centre in Pukatja (Ernabella).
