Warnayaka Art

Nampijinpa has been immersed in art her whole life which is part of the Lajamanu tradition especially of people her age. The years from 1985 on saw art on new mediums which Sharon was a part of. In the 1990s Nampijinpa studied at Bachelor College near Darwin and by 2008 had completed many units of her teaching degree. In 2010 changes in NT Government Education policies saw Sharon frustrated and so she moved across to the arts and became immersed now in preserving of culture by the way of the arts and Warnayaka Art Centre. This is reflected by her most recent video art piece recording her father’s Water Dreaming story which the art centre has published on DVD. Sharon also paints with acrylics, and practices body art as part of ceremony.
