My mother and Aunty told us stories about our ancestors and how they would get these long thin strong sticks and weave it with vines to make the fish trap. When it was finished, they’d tie it across the creek then they would get roots off cucky apple trees, which we call gugrall, and smash it up to put it around the rocks and in the middle of the creek. They would then wait for a while: the fish, freshwater crayfish and freshwater turtles would come up and that’s how they caught their food.
