Biography
An established contemporary artist, Lisa Michl Ko-manggén (OAM) has been a practicing artist for 23 years. She has also built up her own arts company, Cape York Art.
Like all the strong women in her family, Lisa Michl has a story to tell, and her artwork is one of the ways she does this.
“It is so important for the next generation to be engaged in making art and telling stories. It’s how families and culture stay strong.”
As well as having bountiful talent and a passion for the Arts, Lisa’s work is enabling her to continue in the art making tradition of her family. She uses art as a way of connecting people with the distinctive Kokoberrin culture of Cape York.
