Biography
Annings first gained inspiration from historical Yidinji shields and firemakers and was the foremost Indigenous artist to revive the unique tradition in 1989. His designs on shields and firemakers are imbued with up to seven different ochre colours found on Yidinji country, to depict totemic designs that demonstrate cultural continuity. His works are held in both public and private collections across Australia.
