The painting shows a family of bininj (Aboriginal) women. Bininj women are called daluk. In the days before white-man came with horses, wagons and later automobiles, Kunwinjku people used to travel on foot hundreds of kilometers to visit family and participate in ceremonies. They would travel for days across rocky escarpment and thick bushlands, the daluk (women) collecting bush tucker which they would carry in dilly bags (seen in the painting), and the bininj (men) hunting animals. All this would be carried with them as gifts for the hosts.
