‘Yamadji old boys dancing by the fire. Keeping warm on a cold night in the desert.’

Uncle Graeme Beamish-Bonnington, known affectionately as Uncle Beamo or Kunda, is a Yamadji man born in Melbourne, blends his cultural heritage with contemporary artistic expression. Self-taught and inspired by the journey of reclaiming his identity and culture, Uncle Beamo weaves together cultural elements throughout his artwork. His canvas becomes a space where ancestral spirits, elders, dancers, and iconic animals ranging from the Green Tree Snakes to the Barramundi come together. Through a mix of techniques and traditional symbolism, Uncle Beamo’s art preserves and celebrates his Yamadji heritage.
