As told by the artist:

“Two miyalk (women) collecting ŋatha (food) – They are diving down for the Waterlily Wakwak . We eat the yellow seed inside the fruit, the tuber which connects to the roots (ṉiṉḏaṉ’/burpa/ḏirrpu) inside the mud, the stem which can be eaten raw and some parts of the young flower buds. We get these wakwak (waterlilies) from the billabong, Waŋurru near my homeland at Bäniyala. The one miyalk waiting for the others in the shade has a basket called wutjumuŋu which has the ŋatha her friends have collected and thrown to her in it.

The basket is made from trees, raŋan (paperbark), I love to make them when I go to Baniyala.”
