During the daytime the Warrabuṉbuṉ sleeps in the jungle in the sacred areas. The Warrabuṉbuṉ is only seen at night when he comes out dancing laughing and singing. He is a happy spirit. Only Yolŋu can see the Warrabuṉbuṉ dancing at night time, but they must keep their distance or they could be taken away. The Warrabuṉbuṉ spirit hunts for food and water at night. He collects yam and looks for water in the billabong. The Warrabuṉbuṉ is a very tall man and when he dances, he is covered in white ochre. This is represented by the white dots on the carving.
