The Boab is an economically important species for members of the Kwini tribe in the North Western region of the Kimberley’s in Western Australia. This painting is a celebration of the Boab tree and its importance to the artist, and the new life it brings each year with its beautiful, fragrant flowers. It is a food source, the pith, seeds, and young roots all eaten, and the new roots are used for making string. Many of these trees are also culturally significant and are sometimes carved with images and symbols.
